Social Media is ever evolving. Almost every other day there are new updates — some big, some small, some very visible and some under the hood.

◘ Instagram is removing fake likes, comments and follows. ◘ Great hashtag#TwitterCleanUp has been on for some time now. ◘ Facebook claims to be trying to tackle the fake news. ◘ Pinterest is bringing new ways to shop. ◘ LinkedIn is working on better user engagement.

There have been a LOT of major changes on all the Social Networks.  The Twitter clean up was a big game changer and Instagram pushed 30+ important updates in 2018!  All these changes have collectively caused a shift in the way brands market themselves on Social Media. As we move ahead towards 2019 we need to say goodbye to some of the Social Media practices.

There is a button on Instagram that lets you share the same post on Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr. Don’t tap on it ????   It is important to understand that the image size, caption length and even the writing style differ on different Social Networks. When you cross-post, you will have consistent posts on your timeline but you won’t have quality posts to drive engagement. You might save some time when you cross-post but you definitely won’t win over your audience. Another thing to remember is every platform has its own post frequency, you might get away with posting a lot on Twitter but on Instagram that might not work for you.

Here’s what you should do instead — Cross-Promote, Don’t Crosspost On Social Media.

If you are still not using a tool for your Social Media Management, are you even serious about Social Media?

Why you should schedule your Social Media posts ✅ To save time. ✅ To make sure you post consistently. ✅ To make sure you have enough time to proofread and refine your content before posting it.

Apart from this, it is important to understand that as a Social Media Manager, posting on different Social Networks is not your biggest responsibility, it’s just a small part of it. Using automation for this purpose gives you extra time to read and research on the new trends and to work on your strategy.

It’s high time we say stop setting alarms to post our content using the native apps and start using a scheduler ⏰ ????

If you continue posting manually, you might not be able to stay in the race for long.

It is no longer about the quantity. It would love to say it never was but I’d be wrong. Sharing lesser, but putting out top quality content has already been a trend in 2018 and this will continue in 2019 as well. Brands and businesses churning out a lot of content that might be repetitive or of low quality will not work anymore. No one is going to follow you on Social Media for your low-quality content ????‍♀

What to do instead? Spend more time creating meaningful content that connects with your audience. This will help you get higher engagement and more love and support than being spammy.
