2019 3-star WR Jordan Jernigan commits to Ole Miss

Jacob Peeler is well-known for being a dynamic recruiter during his time in Berkeley when he was the wide receivers coach at Cal where he signed five-star Demetris Robertson away from Alabama, Georgia, and Notre Dame. Well, after securing a pledge from three-star Demarcus Gregory earlier this year, the first-year coach is at it again.

Jordan Jernigan, a 2019 three-star product from Tupelo, Miss. and Tupelo High School has become a name to keep an eye on in next year’s, earning offers from Mississippi State and Ole Miss. But, it didn’t take long for Jernigan to make a decision on where he wants to end up.

The Magnolia State recruit pulled the trigger and verbally committed to Ole Miss and will follow in the footsteps of Donte Moncrief, Laquon Treadwell, Damore’ea Stringfellow, D.K. Metcalf, and A.J. Brown. As a junior at Tupelo High School, the newest member of the nWo finished with 31 receptions, 525 yards and six touchdowns. Last year as a sophomore, he had 24 receptions for 422 yards and three touchdowns.

The 6’1, 175-pounder from Tupelo is still growing into his frame but has the look of a playmaker who will make his home in the slot. He has that long frame that reminds me a bit of Van Jefferson or Markell Pack who can glide through coverages and find soft spots to move the chains or take the top off the defense for six points.

The No. 19 player in the state of Mississippi is still a tad raw as a route runner, but once again, he is only a junior. Jernigan has the speed and feel for the game when coming in and out of breaks and using his hands to complete catches. He makes it look effortless when he floats past the secondary when running go routes and he can be just as devastating after burning them deep when he breaks off a comeback route.

With Peeler’s tutelage and continued growth as a player, Jernigan could be an impact player for the Rebels when he arrives on campus.
