Makylan Pounders put together an outstanding camp performance at Ole Miss earlier this month and was rewarded with an offer by the Rebels.
It was the first offer for the 2021 offensive tackle out of Byhalia (Miss.) High School. The 6-6, 270-pounder has not yet been rated by 247Sports.
He has also camped at Mississippi State this summer.
"State's showing interest a little bit, but I really don't know what they think," Pounders told the Ole Miss Spirit. "That's really the only other school I've talked to besides Ole Miss."
Area recruiter and cornerbacks coach Charles Clark is leading Pounders' recruitment for the Rebels. He's also in communication with Ole Miss offensive line coach Jack Bicknell.
Since his camp effort inside the Manning Center, Pounders and his family have made another unofficial visit back to Oxford this month.
"Coach Clark is my recruiting coach, so I was around him most of the time. I also talked to Coach Bicknell a bunch," said Pounders.
"I like that they're showing interest in me. They always make me feel real good when I'm there. The visit went really good. They gave me and my family a tour, and they talked to my mom a lot. The visit was about football, but it was more about me as a person and not an Ole Miss football type thing."
Where do things stand with with Pounders and his recruitment from the Rebels?
"They're cool, but I'm not really too much focusing on making a decision right now. I'm focusing on my grades. Only time will tell, really," he related.
Did Pounders grow up a fan of any particular college program?
"Honestly, in my house, I really didn't grow up watching college football. I grew up watching NFL. I idolized NFL players. I never really watched college football growing up," shared Pounders.
